Screen capture, OCR, and built-in Apple Translation run entirely on your Mac. We do not operate content servers and do not receive your content unless you explicitly enable optional third-party translation (DeepL or Zhipu AI BYOK).

SnapLingua is a Mac application that captures on-screen content from video courses, performs OCR recognition, and generates bilingual study notes. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user.

Built-in Translation (Apple Translation framework): When you use the default Built-in engine, translation runs entirely on-device. No text is sent to any external server. macOS may download language packs the first time a language pair is used; that download is handled by macOS, not by SnapLingua.

Local app data lives in the macOS App Sandbox and is protected by macOS security. API Keys in Keychain (DeepL / Zhipu) are not accessible to other applications.

SnapLingua requires Screen Recording permission (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording) to capture the region you select. This is used solely for OCR of that area. SnapLingua does not record continuous video, does not capture outside your designated region, and does not transmit screen content to any server.

SnapLingua is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact support@joivis.com so we can take appropriate action.

Local data: Sessions, vocabulary, and preferences stay on your device under your control. You can delete individual items or all app data in the app. Deleted sessions and capture records move to Recently Deleted for 30 days (then are removed automatically, or sooner if you permanently delete / empty trash). Uninstalling removes local app data.
本地数据：会话、生词与偏好保存在你的设备上，由你掌控。可在应用内删除单条或全部应用数据。删除的会话与抓取记录会进入最近删除，保留 30 天（到期自动清除；也可提前彻底删除 / 清空回收站）。卸载应用会移除本地应用数据。
iCloud data (Pro): If you disable sync or cancel Pro, data already in iCloud remains in your private container until you delete it (in the app or iCloud settings) or Apple’s retention policies apply.
